While this is not the most beautiful pizza crust in the world it is delicious. It may not be for everyone though. It does have a courser texture than your regular crust. I myself like rustic textures and I love that it is yeast free.
Simple Almond Flour Pizza Crust
(Makes one pizza crust)
- 1 1/2 Cups Almond Flour
- 2 T. Flax Seed
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Pepper
- 1/2 tsp. Thyme (optional)
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 3 Eggs
- 1 T. Coconut Oil or Olive Oil
- 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 Cups Water
Mix all the dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl whip the eggs and oil until fluffy. Add the egg mixture to the dry mixture and stir until crumbly. Then stir in the water a little at a time until you have a ball. Be careful not to add so much water that it is too sticky. It will be slightly sticky however.
Hand press on an oiled pizza pan. Poke holes in the crust with a fork and bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
If you have time to spare place the dough in a plastic bag and refrigerate for about an hour before pressing onto the pan. I found that because this dough is a little on the sticky side it is a little harder to press than your typical pizza dough. What I did was lay the bag I used to refrigerated it in on top and pressed from the middle out. This kept the dough from sticking to me and lifting away from the pan. You could also use parchment paper. ( Note: you wouldn’t want to use flour to keep it from sticking because it will become too dry)
Add Your Toppings
This is where it gets fun. My pizza is topped with delicious veggies but the possibilities are endless.
What I used:
- Sliced Tomatoes
- Roasted Green and Red Bell Pepper
- Caramelized Onion
- Roasted Garlic
- Thyme
- Fresh Basil
- Salt and Pepper
- Cheese
Usually this list would include spinach but I was out. I didn’t use a sauce this time. Quite honestly I like my veggie pizza simple. If anything I will make a pesto and use that as my sauce.
Once you have added the toppings of your liking place it back in the oven until the cheese is slightly browned. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
It’s that simple to have a healthy homemade pizza!
This Pizza was so Tasty. I know most people shy away from Meatless Pizza but this was by Far an amazing Veggie Pizza and the Crust added an additional Flavor that pushed it over the Top!

Sounds delicious Shannon. I make my own pizza crust, (organic white flour for the dough) and have held off on the sauce instead using some olive oil, rosemary, basil and a bit of salt, it is so tasty and brings out the taste of the veggies. I look forward to trying almond flour for the crust.
